Many photographs show children crying or smiling or otherwise reaching out in someway toward grownups, and those pictures are always endearing and easy to look at. But I also wanted to record how children look when they’re unaware of or rejecting the presence of adults, and so for this series I tried to take my shots while leaving as little trace of my own self as possible.Still, my emotions as a parent show through in these frames—my joy and also sense of loss at seeing my daughters become their own person,my concern over the state of the world they will be venturing out into. |
